About HealthQuotes AI
HealthQuotes AI is a free, independent comparison service for US health coverage. Amy, our AI guide, asks five questions and explains which plan structures — ACA Marketplace, private, self-employed or Medicare — you are likely eligible for, then connects you with licensed brokers who can quote real prices.
What we are, and what we are not
We are not a government agency, and we are not affiliated with HealthCare.gov, CMS, Medicare or any state exchange. We do not underwrite policies and we do not sell insurance directly. Enrolment always happens with a licensed broker, a carrier, or the official Marketplace for your state.
We also do not display live premiums. Real pricing depends on county-level carrier filings and personal factors we cannot verify from five questions, so publishing a number would be guesswork dressed up as a quote.
How Amy matches you
Amy applies published federal eligibility rules — Medicare age thresholds, Marketplace enrollment windows, premium tax credit income bands and Medicaid expansion status — to the answers you give. The output is a shortlist of plan structures that fit your household, ranked against the priority you selected, not a list of priced products.
Nothing Amy says is a determination of eligibility. Only the Marketplace, CMS or a licensed broker can confirm what you qualify for and what it costs.
Editorial policy
Every guide is written in plain English, is original to this site, and cites the primary federal source behind each rule it describes. We review guides against the current plan-year rules at the start of each Open Enrollment period and whenever CMS or the IRS publishes a change that affects the content.
Content is drafted in-house and checked against primary sources before publication. We do not present our writers as licensed brokers or clinicians, and we do not offer medical, tax or legal advice. Where a decision depends on your specific circumstances, we say so and point you to someone licensed to advise you.

How we make money
HealthQuotes AI is free for consumers. When you ask us to send your comparison, your request may be shared with licensed insurance brokers or carrier partners who pay us a referral or advertising fee. That fee never increases the premium you are offered — ACA Marketplace premiums are filed with regulators and are the same whichever intermediary you use.
Payment never buys editorial placement. Our guides compare plan types on cost structure, network rules and eligibility, and we do not rank partners by what they pay.
Privacy and contact
We only contact you about the comparison you requested, on the channels you consented to, and you can opt out at any time. Read the privacy policy and terms for the full detail.
Sources
The primary sources our guides are built on. If a page ever disagrees with one of these, the source wins.
- Marketplace open enrollment and state-based exchanges — Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
- Saving money on health insurance: premium tax credits — HealthCare.gov (CMS)
- When to sign up for Medicare — Medicare.gov (CMS)
- Premium Tax Credit — eligibility and reconciliation — Internal Revenue Service
- State insurance department directory — National Association of Insurance Commissioners
Frequently asked
Is HealthQuotes AI an insurance company or a government site?
Neither. HealthQuotes AI is an independent comparison service. We are not a government agency and are not affiliated with HealthCare.gov, CMS or Medicare, and we do not underwrite or sell insurance ourselves.
How does HealthQuotes AI make money?
The service is free to consumers. When you ask us to, we pass your request to licensed insurance brokers and carrier partners who pay a referral or advertising fee. That fee never changes the premium you are quoted, and we do not rank plan types by what pays us most.
Where does your health insurance information come from?
Our guides summarise published federal rules from HealthCare.gov, Medicare.gov, CMS, Medicaid.gov and the IRS. Every guide lists the primary sources it relies on so you can verify the details yourself.
Why don't you show live premiums?
Premiums depend on your exact ZIP code, age, tobacco use, household size, projected income and the carrier filings approved in your county. Rather than display a number that would be wrong for most people, Amy explains the plan structures you are eligible for and connects you with a licensed broker for a binding quote.
